The 18th Research Institute of CETC (located in Tianjin) is the earliest founded and largest comprehensive institute of chemical and physical power sources. Its scale, professional coverage, development capabilities, technologies and product varieties are the topmost in China.

 Since its founding in 1958, CETC18 has developed and manufactured silicon solar battery, GAAS solar array, Ag/Zn battery, Ni/Cd rechargeable battery, Ni/H2 rechargeable battery, lithium-ion battery, sealed lead acid battery, fuel battery, thermal difference generator and thermal cooling module, and the power supply system, which is solar array, recharge lithium-ion battery and power conditioning unit. The battery products it has developed and produced cover more than 40 series and 500 types. Most of its technology and products are the most advanced in China and some have been close to or reached the most advanced level internationally. They have been widely applied in various fields.

 CETC18 has complied with ISO9001-2000 Quality Certification. China Industry Association of Chemical & Physical Power Sources, Quality Supervision and Testing Center of Chemical & Physical Power Sources, and 6 professional academic organizations are all attached to it. Now CETC18 has built wide ties and cooperation in the both Chinese and international battery field.
